8X8 TRUCK System

 

The 8x8 Truck System is designed to provide high performance vehicle dynamic response for large and heavy vehicles that require off-road capabilities

Based on the suspension technology patented by Creuat, the 8x8 Truck System is capable to adjust the suspension parameters to optimize the different requirements of such large vehicles. In particular, the system focuses on:

  • Tire load distribution

  • Roll control

  • Pitch control

  • Ride Height compensation on load

 

This is is a hydropneumatic system designed to totally or partially replace the existing suspension system Without sensors or actuators, it reacts instantaneously to wheel movements. It is designed to separate the dynamic response to each movement of the vehicle body such as roll and vertical movement appropriately for the vehicle distinct inertias

 

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The 8x8 Truck System is a hydropneumatic system installed on a vehicle axle, without sensors or actuators that reacts instantaneously to wheel movements. Existing coilovers and spring leaves are replaced or complemented with hydraulic rams connected to a central device. Each ram is linked to a small hydrosphere through a flexible hose, and then to the central device using rigin hydraulic lines.Several damping elements are included in the circuit to separately damp each body movements and provide the right roll and pitch stiffness without interfering with the wheel movements..

The 8X8 Truck System does not include electronic control units or sensors. Like all other CREUAT systems, once the system is installed it is ready to work.

The system can be installed with or without existing anti-roll bars depending on the level of off-road the vehicle is used for.

The extra roll stiffness increases the stability and keep an appropriate vertical movement dynamic response. It improves handling and reduces tire slip fluctuations.

 

  

This ability to separate modal response beats all the conventional suspension compromises and tradeoffs that have been assumed at the design stage. Conventional suspensions cannot compensate the different body roll inertia with the same dampers that work for the vertical movement

The weight distribution is specially appreciated on off-road driving over soft terrains.

The 8x8 Wheel configuration uses the CREUAT System to separate body movmeents and react appropriately with the spring and damping rates to keep movements controlled depending on each body inertia

The 8X8 Truck System is connected to the 4 groups of wheels allowing free axle crossing of each axle to keep the loads on the wheels independent of the terrain uneveness.

The system can be adapted to any suspension geometry, and eventually coexist with some of the former suspension elements such as spring leaves, anti roll bars or air bellows.
