VW TRANSPORTER 4Motion Kit

In collaboration with our technological partner LLEIDA TRACCIÓ TECHNOLOGY we have developed our system for the VolksWagen Transporter 4Motion.

The Integral Suspension System (ISS Kit) developed for this vehicle is specially aimed to the most demanding off-road applications. The elevated ride height and the increased ride-height control will help to succeed in difficult off-road situations.

This Integral Suspension System (ISS Kit), a passive interconnected suspension system, is designed to separate the elasticity and damping rates for each movement of the car such as ROLL, PITCH, HEAVE and WARP, so the suspension is all in one optimized for both on-road and off-road .

Advantatges:

  • Ride Height control

Extra height on off-road difficult passages

Increased stability on road by low settings

  • Body Control

    Increased stability

    Improved handling

  • Wheel loads

    More traction and grip

    Less tire stress

    Less terrain compactation

    Increased cornering grip

  • Comfort & safety

Less driver wheel fighting on bumpy corners

    Smaller body movements when cornering

Softer vertical suspension enhances passenger comfort perception

The Integral Suspension System (ISS Kit) provides the advantages of a modal configuration without the cost and complexity of an active system or look-a-like cross-linked system. It contains no sensors and no actuators, and the response to the solicitations of wheel movements is instantaneous, it just needs simple acting rams on each wheel, and one central device.

In addition to the system dyamic performance, the system includes a ride-height regulation pump that can elevate the body on driver’s demand.

The ride height already elevated from 165mm to 195 for normal operation, can be rised up to 265mm when occasion requires it.

The possibility of rising the suspension at will can help to improve the vehicle capabilities in situations where the off road difficulties arise without imparing the normal driving on road.

The ride height control can as well lower the center of gravity when driving on the road, increasing the vehicle stability and lowering the roll and pitch movements at higher speeds.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION    (Top)

The Integral Suspension System (ISS Kit) is an hydropneumatic system with one actuator installed on each vehicle wheel. At the front it implements the Mc Person struts, and at the rear it replaces the coilovers of the independent suspension. It does not include sensors or actuators, and reacts instantaneously to wheel movements.

The system is designed to provide separate response to each movement of the vehicle body such as roll, pitch and vertical movement, with the appropriate stiffness for the vehicle distinct inertias, while allowing at the same time the axle crossing without the restrictions of commonly used anti-roll bars.

The Ride Height Control adds the ability of handling complex off-road situations where an extra height helps.

The design is simple and effective, it provides better stability and handling of the car without the usual tradeoffs. It allows a great deal of optimization of the suspension settings for handling, traction and corner grip well beyond the possibilities of a conventional or even other cross-linked suspension systems.

he soft – not free – axle crossing allows the suspension to adapt and follow the terrain irregularities. It also prevents unwanted terrain compactation when driving on sensible areas or natural protected zones.

Independent suspension is usually compromised by the anti-roll bars that rigidize not only roll movmeent, but also the axle crossing movements. The CREUAT System separates roll and warp stiffness to ensure the proper adaptation to the terrain irregularites without losing stability on the road.

High center of gravity and rised suspension modification are normally compromising the vehicle stability.

Large roll and pitch inertias demand extra roll stiffness, and extra damping for both roll and pitch movements that the CREUAT system provides.
